If you've had refractive surgery before (for example LASIK), make sure to get your records from your surgeon.  The information in those records will become extremely useful when you get older and need cataract surgery.  Doctors are required to store records only for a few years so get your records and store them yourself!

Matossian Eye Associates makes it our priority to update you with the newest nutritional information available from the medical community.

We have provided studies about diet and age related macular degeneration (AMD), a possible link between cataracts and carbohydrate consumption, vitamins and cataracts as well as the many benefits of adding Omega-3 to your daily regimen.

Here is another great reason to include Omega-3 in your diet. Persistent dryness, scratching and burning in your eyes can be reduced by the essential fatty acids contained in Omega-3. Dry Eye Omega Benefits is a high concentration of the anti-inflammatory Omega-3, EPA (eicosapentanoic acid) in its natural TG form combined with Vitamin D3 works from within to reduce inflamation of the accessory lacrimal glands of the eye, alleviating irritation and discomfort so many of you with Dry Eye are very familiar with.

Inquire at your next appointment about Omega-3 supplements available at our office.

Have you ever noticed someone with 2 different colored eyes?  Heterochromia iridum is the technical term for when one eye is a different color than the other.  It is typically a sporadically-occurring, benign phenomenon, but in rare cases can be associated with a congenital syndrome or can be caused by trauma or inflammation in one eye.  Heterochromia iridum is often seen in certain breeds of dogs, such as Huskies, who often have one blue and one brown eye.  Kate Bosworth, Mila Kunis, Christopher Walken, Dan Aykroyd, and Jane Seymour are some well-known celebrities with heterochromia iridum.
