Dry Eyes and Migraines: A Connection?
A small study was recently performed in Turkey that reveals there may be a correlation between dry eyes and migraines. Two groups of 33 people each were studied. One group suffered from migraines, the other did not. Both groups underwent multiple tests for dry eyes and significant differences were found in the dry eye scores between the patients with migraines and the control group. The study's conclusion: "An increased frequency of dry eye disease was found to occur in patients with migraine, which might suggest that migraine headaches are related to dry eye syndrome. Some migraine attacks may be aggravated in the presence of dry eye syndrome."
