Back to School

Posted on: Monday, August 07, 2017

Summer is fast approaching its end, which means it's time to start preparing for school! Most purchase school supplies for the coming year, but many overlook getting their annual checkups.
 Dry Eye Screenings
Did you know that dry eye has been shown to cause slower reading speeds? In a study published in the British Journal of Ophthalmology March' 17 titled, “Functional impairment of reading in patients with dry eye” it was concluded that dry eye is associated with slower out-loud and silent reading speeds. You can read more here.
Did you also know that children who regularly look at screens are shown to have a higher chance of havingdry eye? In a study conducted at Chung Ang University, an increased use of smartphones and computers was found to be associated with the increase of ocular surface symptoms in children. You can read more here.
 Lipiview For All Ages
Matossian Eye Associates is happy to announce that we are now offering Lipiview screenings for all ages! Lipiview is a quick and painless way to view:

  • The tear film
  • Meibomian glands
  • Ocular surface and eyelids

Lipiview allows MEA physicians to observe the source of your potential dry eye condition.
Skip The Dilation, Try Optomap!
One of the most dreaded parts for patients—when it comes to their comprehensive eye exams—is having their eyes dilated.

  • Need to wait for eyes to dilate, making exams longer
  • Sensitive to light, needing to wear sunglasses
  • Difficulty driving, potentially needing a ride

Not with Optomap!
Optomap offers immediate and painless digital views of the retina (the interior lining of the eye) while removing the need for dilation. In addition, Optomap creates a digital record of the retina, resulting in a more detailed record keeping for an examination.
