Still Have 2017 FSA Funds?

Posted on: Wednesday, November 29, 2017

A Flexible Spending Account (also known as a flexible spending arrangement or FSA) is a special account you put money into that you use to pay for certain out-of-pocket health care costs. For many at the end of the year, those funds will reset. So, if you have some funds still available, it’s best to use them now. Here is a short list of potential items you can consider including or purchasing before your funds reset:

Contact Lenses

You can include the amount you pay for contact lenses needed for medical reasons in your expenses. You can also include the cost of equipment and materials required for using contact lenses, such as saline solution and enzyme cleaner.

Eye Exam

You can include the amount you pay for eye examinations in your medical expenses.

Eyeglasses

You can include the amount you pay for eyeglasses needed for medical reasons in your medical expenses.

Eye Surgery

You can include the amount you pay for eye surgery to treat non-optical vision, such as LASIK, PRK, or premium lenses for cataract surgery.

Over-the-Counter Medicines

You can include the amount you pay for over the counter medicines related to eye care in your medical expenses, such as:

·         Eyedrops

·         Eye Compresses

·         Lid Cleansers

·         Eye Health Supplements
