Doylestown, PA – Biomedical sciences student of Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, Sierra McCloud, recently shadowed multiple doctors at Matossian Eye Associates (MEA) for the month of March to learn about the field of ophthalmology.
Originally, Sierra didn’t have an interest in ophthalmology, but after spending time at MEA—that changed. Sierra stated, “I had not considered ophthalmology until my experience with Matossian Eye Associates. In an attempt to get a perspective of the medicine field, I took the opportunity to shadow physicians who specialize in the eye.”
While shadowing in our office, Sierra observed how comprehensive eye exams are performed, how technicians interacted with patients, how to test patients for symptoms, how best to answer patients’ questions, and to use some of the advanced technological equipment at Matossian Eye Associates. Regarding her visit, Sierra stated, “Little did I know I would add that specialty (Ophthalmology) to my accumulating list of “Match Day” residencies. Needless to say, I had a one of a kind experience with MEA. The physicians and staff were welcoming and I learned a great bit about the eye and some of the diseases associated with it. I find myself paying closer attention to peoples’ eyes. Thank you, MEA, for the unique shadowing opportunity!”
Matossian Eye Associates gladly welcomes interested students to observe our doctors.
