As a Masters of Biomedical Science student at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine, Jared Reynolds came to Matossian Eye Associates under the tutelage of Dr. Aikey, a D.O. and one of our retina specialists.
Jared was originally accepted to the American University of the Caribbean, but was forced to leave because of Hurricane Irma. In deciding to return to the U.S. and apply to medical schools once more, he eventually shadowed our own Dr. Aikey, and he had this to say about his time with our eye doctors:
“My time with Matossian Eye Associates was an eye-opening – no pun intended – and rewarding experience. I learned so much observing what Dr. Aikey does on a day to day basis. I can’t wait to join the medical field, and I will always keep in mind the lessons I learned from my time at Matossian Eye Associates.”
When contemplating whether or not to pursue a career in eye care, a vital step to take is to dive head-first into learning about the field, as Jared did. If you are considering an education path to become an eye doctor, “shadowing” a doctor already in that position is an excellent way to discover if such a career may be right for you.
